In September of 2022, Our Lord’s applied for a grant through the United Methodist General Board of Church and Society. Our vision was to “plant” an intergenerational storytelling path on the church grounds open to the wider city community which could foster shared learning and facilitate open discussion about big issues. The stories featured would guide readers to a more just, inclusive, and peaceful world.  The grant was sent off with a simple prayer. “God, if You’re not in this, don’t give us the money.”

The money came and God provided each step of the way.
Finding the right place for the path, the right materials, and the necessary labor force took time, but a pattern began to emerge.  Each time we hit a roadblock, a congregant would come forward and say, “I did some research,” or “I can do that” or “I am here for whatever you need.” Many folks gave generously to the purchasing of the exhibit boxes for the path and chose to memorialize loved ones through their contributions. Artist, Sophia Veit, painted an inviting and beautiful path.  Church members, friends, and family joined together to turn what began as a vision into reality.

On September 15, 2024, we celebrated the grand opening of the ALL Together Story Path with our first story, “Three Lines and a Circle: The Exciting Life of the Peace Symbol by Michael G. Long. It seemed like a very fitting story to begin with for a path dedicated to a peaceful world.

The path is open from May through October and will rest over the winter months.  You are welcome to visit the path, check out the materials in our sharing libraries, play a game of hopscotch, and snip herbs from our raised bed gardens.

You are warmly welcome to visit any time.
