Land Acknowledgement for Our Lord’s United Methodist Church
~ We acknowledge the Algonquin language family*, who for countless generations, have been the traditional custodians of the land on which we gather.
~ We acknowledge that in September 1833, representatives of the Chippewa, Ottawa and Potawatomi ceded southeastern Wisconsin to the United States government.
~We acknowledge, today, the pain and suffering that came before and after the unjust land acquisition from which we benefit.
~We honor the continued contributions made to our state by the
Algonquin language family.
