“Summer of Kindness”
Prayer practices, rituals and activities for faith formation wherever you may be.
(a collaboration with Rio Texas, Great Plains and the MI UM Annual Conferences)
I’m sharing this exciting, flexible intergenerational series for use community wide this summer. I believe that focusing on kindness across our ages and stages, our theological spectrum, our political divide and among our leadership will celebrate the grace between us as God’s beloved children and spark a playful spirit among us.
It’s time to play a bit and to extend a little kindness out into our world.
The series invites us to: ~ Hear/Read a Bible story (if you need a Bible, just let me know!) ~Wonder together about that story ~Offer a short prayer ~Play a fun game or activity and ~Choose an act (or two) of kindness.
Engage this on your own, share it with your children, grandchildren or make a new neighbor friend and meet once a week over a glass of iced tea. The themes will change every two weeks. The materials will be linked on our website and What’s Happening as well as hard copies available at “Drive-In Live” Sunday worship. I’ll be tweeting out links, for youth, to the scripture with a wonder question and Kindness Ques will pop up on our Facebook page all summer long.
Begin your summer of kindness by downloading or picking up a Kindness Bingo card. One card for every person in your household! (and one for that new friend you’ll make this summer too!)
This series begins Monday, June 7th and I’ll be highlighted it every Sunday during the “Intergen Time @ “Drive-In Live”. Enjoy a summer filled with watermelon, loved ones and new friends. Invite God to inspire your heart with kindness!

Confirmation Classes
Confirmation Class is Forming NOW for Fall 2021 Those students entering Junior High or High School (the age range is flexible – the developmental prerequisite is an ability to process and assimilate a growing faith/belief experience), interested in a 9-month, hybrid (Zoom and in-person) commitment toward learning, reflection and preparation for a first independent step in
faith (confirmation) and connection (membership) – it’s time to come forward.
Our Lord’s is joining with the Oak Creek Community UMC to enhance and enrich this 9-month journey. We’ll use the “Confirm” Curriculum and each 90-minute class will be offered every Sunday (with a few exceptions) beginning September 19, 2021, via Zoom and in-person beginning at 10:15 a.m. CT. There is lots more being planned, including a virtual parent/student orientation, virtual Interfaith tours, legacy/history speakers, service opportunities., an in-person mission trip for summer 2022 and more.
